  1. 1 I think that both of you were well dressed and had plenty of good comparisons like the trip being a race. I didn't know that it was an Irish girl, 15 years of age, who is the first name on the ledge.
2 I would ask that you both speak up a little. I could heard you but I had to "guess" at some of your talking points

  2. 1. I thought both of you guys did very good, you were very informative, and I thought your video clip tied in nicely to your presentation.
    2. My only critique would be that the use of "umm" was very prevalent throughout the beginning of your presentation. Other than that you both did a very good job.

  3. 1. One of the best things about the presentation was the analysis you guys did when talking about immigration and the conclusions being drawn from that, I thought that was a nice touch considering current events with immigration from Syria. Something that I learned from this presentation was the cost of the tickets that were needed to sail towards America and the tactic that immigrant families used to deal with the pricing. It is interesting knowing that families would only send one of their unit while the rest work it off to pay for the ticket.
    2. I didn't find any real issue with your presentation other than perhaps speaking up so that the end of the room can hear you more clearly. You guys did sound a bit quiet when talking about your slides.

  4. 1.) Overall I thought you guys did a really good job! I really liked the analogy of a race that you guys used and that you used it whole heartedly throughout the presentation. There were a lot of good facts that you guys had included and you could tell your time and effort that you guys put into it.
2.) The only criticism that I have is that at times your speaking was quiet, and I didn't feel like there was enough on the slides, I missed a lot of facts because I couldn't hear and it was mentioned on the slide. Other than that you guys did a really good job!

  5. 1. The video was a great touch which got the message across on the importance as well with the symbolism that Ellis Island and SOL! The caparison of contemporary issues involving Syria with Ellis Island bolstered your presentation. Well Done!
    2. When talking about The SOL and Ellis Island this powerful passage always comes to my head. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" I wish you guys would have included this, but other than that I enjoyed your presentation. Great Topic!

  6. I enjoyed how you compared to journey to Ellis Island to a race. It made the presentation more interesting and caught my attention more. The only thing I have to critique is the talking was kinda soft at times but other than that great job!

  7. I felt your guys video was very good and was the most effective video of all the presentations in my opinion. I think the information on the Statue of Liberty was kind of lacking, like there was not enough and was focused on Ellis island more.

  8. I really liked the theme of this presentation. The start to finish idea was a great was to explain the movement from Europe to the U.S.. The slides were formatted very nicely and there was plenty of information about Ellis Island. I did not know that the Statue of Liberty has a quote on it pertaining to the acceptance of nearly all immigrants. I found that very interesting.
You guys seemed timid and slightly unsure while presenting. My advice would be to practice in front of your family members and make sure to speak up. Other than that great job.

  9. I enjoyed how you compared the journey from Europe to America to a race and explained the different steps along the way. Also I never knew the trip took so long back then, over two weeks! Crazy!
The one thing I would have liked to learn about in the presentation is a little background on the statue itself, where it came from and who made it etc.

  10. 1. The idea to make it into a race was a great one. I loved how you guys did that. I thought that the presentation was very informative. I did not know that disease was on the ship. I also did not know that there was very little medical help. I thought that adding that video was a great way to really capture the moment. Very well organized and very done!! GOOD JOB!!!

  11. Your presentation was very good! You had good eye contact, clear ideas, clear speech, and very good informative video. You made it clear why Lady Liberty and the bridge were so significant. My only recommendation would be to of talked more about the creation of the statue.

  12. 1) I really liked your idea to make the presentation of the journey through Ellis Island look like a "race." I also didn't realize that Ellis Island opened on January 1st.
    2) One thing I noticed is that the presentation felt a bit unprepared. There were a lot of gaps between the two of you talking. One thing that was also unclear was the meaning of Ellis Island. I think you only talked about the meaning of the Statue of Liberty.

  13. The metaphor of the journey being a race really got me interested in your presentation. I never knew that Ellis island was opened on new years or that a girl who wasn't even eighteen yet was the first to complete the entire journey. The information you guys presented was really well put together and the slides made it very easy to follow along. One of the things i think you guys could have improved upon is the transitioning between each other but other than that it was a excellent presentation.

  14. I really liked your creative use of slides. It was effective and not too bad looking. You both had really good chemistry and I congratulate you on getting your video to work! It really added to the presentation. I learned a lot, like how dangerous and packed the boat rides were.

One thing I noticed is that you seemed a little nervous. That's not anything that you can really be criticized for, though. Good presentation!

  15. I believe your presentation was very well done. i enjoyed the clips of people talking about their experiences coming into america and finally seeing lady liberty's face and how they felt.
My only critique would be to try to loosen up a little bit and be more relaxed. I know presenting is tough and I get nervous too, it is something that you have to practice in order to do better at.

  16. 1) I'm so glad you guys did your presentation over Ellis Island. Ever since learning about it when I was younger, I have been interested in it since then. I liked your creativeness with the 'race'. One thing I learned from your presentation is the cost of the tickets. $38 for a ticket nowadays would be a big "Heck yeah!" but once you explained that $38 back then was the equivalent to about $750 now, that's a different story.
    2) Overall, you guys had a great ending presentation. The only thing I would have suggested is that you guys practiced going back and forth between each other a little more.
