The main idea of this blog was that our brain is over flooded with useless information everyday, and we do some many things for our brain that aren't healthy. He talked about how we need to put down our phones and break our bad habits. There were three things he did to help his brain as a new years resolution type thing. The first thing was he deleted Twitter off his phone. Anytime he gets the urge to get on Twitter he grabs out a notebook and writes down notes and up to date ideas for his current book he is writing.Another thing he did was he removed the charger from beside his bed to in his office. This stopped him from being able to do late night web surfing before bed. In the morning when he wakes up and he gets the urge to look at his phone it reminded him to go to his office and work on any current ideas for his book. The last thing he did was quit casual drinking. Any time he craved a drink he instead drank some water and did something productive. Doing just these small three things it has helped his focus so much. Phones control so much of people's lives and they dont even realize it. For myself, I know as soon as I wake up in the morning I am checking my phone, and any free chance I get I am checking my social medias. It's a force of habit, half the time I don't even realize I'm doing it. Technology is taking over society, and with the fast advances in technology it"s scary to see just how much more taking over it can do. His strengths are talking about what he did to help himself. He did a good job explaining what he did and when he got a craving to do the thing he quit what he did to stop the craving. I agree with his thinking process. He made a lot of good points that really just opened my eyes and made me realize just how much technology controls our society. I'm going to try and start putting my phone down more and enjoying the more simple things in life.

Part 2:
So I'm in a drug and alcohol abuse class and one of our assignments was to look into a topic that strongly affects our health and do a presentation on it and I did smoking. So after doing tons and tons of research on the topic I came across this website. I found it really interesting and I think it is truly helpful to anyone who is trying to quit smoking themselves or anyone who has a family member or friend they are trying to convince to quit smoking. It talks about your lungs and what smoking does to them and a lot of the things it talks about just really astonishes me.

A healthy lung compared to a smoker's lung.

its very intriguing how MMM realizes the futility of most of the information we are gathering in our minds on a daily basis. It is truly junk, that eventually will give us the monkey brain syndrome that he is trying to steer clear from. I love how when ever he got the urge to check his phone he would something productive instead. I would love to do this, as everything I need to get done would be accomplished on time and I wouldn't be so absorbed into what my friends are doing or what else I could be doing at the moment.
ReplyDeleteThe way that persons lung's look makes me reaffirmed in my decision to never smoke a cigarette. I will show this website to my mom and dad and hopefully it can sway them to follow my stance as well.
