From the narrative "The Life of Fredrick Douglass" what stood out to me was the fact that he wouldn't give up in learning how to read. It claimed that all the negative people and words only served to inspire him with a desire and determination to learn how to read. Throughout the chapter we learn about literacy events and how to analyze them understanding what writing is and what it does or examining how people make sense of their encounters with reading and writing. This pice of writing serves to focus all our the attention on Fredric Douglass urge in learning how to read.

I agree that it was quite beautiful that Fredrick Douglass was able to use the negativity that surrounded him to form his education. Not many are able or have the desire to do so. Nice take on the reading Amanda
ReplyDeleteI think you did a great job in describing how Fredrick Douglass used the negativity to fulfill his dream to read. After reading this, I agree with you in the fact that the negativity really inspired him, rather than discouraged him.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with you like the others did. Sometimes negativity will bring a person down but not him. Fredrick Douglas strived on it and that is one of the reason why he succeeded.
