Exploration Three: Literacy events and opposing issues.

Exploration Three
Jenny Kitzler

1.) When I was a junior in high school when I learned how to do my fist basic haircut. I remember this day so well. The teacher decided that we would all gather around one mannequin and she would show us. She thought it would be a good idea for everyone to gather around mine. She picked up my comb and shears and began to cut, she cut the first layer of hair and handed me the shears and said, "Now you show us the rest". I was a very nervous seventeen year old. Praying that I didn't screw up in front of my peers I tried my best and little did I know I did everything the way I was suppose to. Not only was it challenging but it taught me to work better under pressure and the was also the gateway to me becoming the hair stylist that I am today. Without being a stylist I also wouldn't have my job at Sally Beauty Supply that I have had for over two years. So going to school for one thing has helped with me learn so much more than I could ever imagine. It's not just doing hair but I learned to have confidence, perseverance, and you always to be a team player.

2.) Issues of Evaluation can be described as questions about weather something is good or bad, if it is practical or not, or what it's purpose is.

3.) A local or state issue that is important to me as a young citizen would be the issue of pro life or pro choice. I myself am pro life. I am a very firm believer that no matter how early a pregnancy that is life that you are carrying. Some people believe that it's not a life until it's born. One of the arguments that a lot of people have for being pro choice is that it's their body they can do with it what they want and if they choose to abort their child it is not murder. But if a man kills a woman and she happens to be pregnant that man is charged with double homicide. My question is does that mean that it is less of a life if the mother is the one to decide to end her pregnancy?

  1. I agree. Saying it's killing two, but saying its only one if she decides to abort, doesn't make any sense!!

  2. Your argument on Pro Life vs Pro Choice is an interesting one, you like many others believe that life begins at conception and that is perfectly acceptable. However the argument the opposing side brings to the table is that since the baby has not yet been born it is not considered killing. This is a major issue in our world and one that many people are both morally and ethically divided.
