Exploration Two: Jared Wolfe

     Exploration Two
My name is Jared Wolfe. I have lived in Marysville my whole life and during that time I played soccer for 15 years. This will be my first year in a long time not playing for an organized soccer team, and it feels weird not doing so. I love technology, especially computers, and building them has become a hobby of mine. This is what led me to choose CSE as my major here at The Ohio State University. I plan to transfer to main campus after this year.

"Selfie" of me in Colorado for a wedding in September last year. I hope to travel more and explore new places in my future.

In "The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass", Douglass' perseverance really stood out to me. Mr. Auld held to a strong opinion that teaching a slave how to read and write would make them worthless. Douglass did not let this get to him, and he knew that learning to read and write would be his way to freedom, despite the troubles and difficulties he would have to overcome along the way.

  1. I also find that Douglass's perseverance towards understanding the complex world that he's a part of is major to this reading. At the same time, his courage to continuously learn more about the world and to how to succeed in it stands out just as greatly as his perseverance does. Considering that he would now find himself in a much more complex world than he was led on to believe in what it was to him.

  3. I also agree that his perseverance of learning to read was a big part of this reading. I like that he let Mr. Auld's words set in and then let that drive him to learn to read.

  4. I absolutely agree that perseverance is everything, without it we would have no one to push the means of what society tells them that they should or shouldn't be. Perserverance is a key concept in literaturere specifically because most characters have a goal and the only way to reach that is to get past the hard part of their journey. I also agree that reading and writing is important to our society.
