Exploration 3 Nicole Miller

1) A literacy event that happened to me would have to be when I got my first car. I remember how excited I was to be somewhat independent. The first day I started driving by myself, I made sure I did everything correct. When I made it to the school and back home, I was so happy everything went perfectly. After a couple months, I started to realize how much work driving required. I had to keep up with my mileage so I could give my car and oil change, I had to keep track of the gas mileage, and pay for gas and insurance. I was also required to get a job. There was almost an immediate change. I wasn't able to go hang out with my friends, but instead working long shifts. All month long I worked, and when it came time for my insurance bill, I paid it, and had some to spare. I put it in my bank immediately. After that, I have been able to pay for all of my expenses, and also been able to save. After finding out that I would have extra money, I began to relax, and find time to hang out with friends, and even enjoyed working. I felt so relieved and proud after I had been able to overcome that tough situations.

2) Issues of substantiation are defined as questions of disputed facts. An example of this would be like saying, "My dog's chew toy gave him a belly ache." Some things you would have to consider would be the chef toy and if it had some sort of shockable part on it, or see if there was a coating on it of some sort.

3)  An issue that is important to me would have to be abortion. A lot of people view this a different way. They say that since the baby isn't alive yet, it's not murder. Another view is that it's murder because the baby is alive before it is actually born. I think that women should only be allowed to abort if they were raped, or if they will die from the birth. I believe that the baby is alive before it is actually born. I think that babies are miracles, and they shouldn't be seen as a burden.
